A Chance to Change the World: Part 1
Are you ever disappointed in Yourself??? In things you haven't done??? Or the Person you haven't become???
God has given us a desire to be Great, to be significant, to change the World!
Paul was used by God to change the World!
Paul understood 4 assignments...
Assignment #1
The Big Assignment
Romans 15:15-20
"But on some points I have written to you very boldly by way of reminder, because of the grace given me by God to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles in the priestly service of the gospel of God, so that the offering of the Gentiles may be acceptable, sanctified by the Holy Spirit. In Christ Jesus, then, I have reason to be proud of my work for God. For I will not venture to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me to bring the Gentiles to obedience--by word and deed, by the power of signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God--so that from Jerusalem and all the way around to Illyricum I have fulfilled the ministry of the gospel of Christ;"
There is one common purpose that we all exist for...
We exist to Point to God (1 Peter 2:9)
We are called as priests and ambassadors to those who don't know Christ! To lead them to Christ!
We are not alone in this work!!! Christ does the work through us!!! (Vs. 18)
Assignment #2
The Personal Assignment
Romans 15:20-24
"and thus I make it my ambition to preach the gospel, not where Christ has already been named, lest I build on someone else's foundation, but as it is written, 'Those who have never been told of him will see, and those who have never heard will understand.'"
Paul's Plan to Visit Rome
"This is the reason why I have so often been hindered from coming to you. But now, since I no longer have any room for work in these regions, and since I have longed for many years to come to you, I hope to see you in passing as I go to Spain, and to be helped on my journey there by you, once I have enjoyed your company for a while."
This is our Unique call from God that fits into the Big assignment.
Paul's Unique call was that of a Starter. (Vs. 20) Paul would start a Church where Christ had not been preached, and then move to a new place and start a new Church!

Assignment #3
The Special Assignment
Romans 15:25-29
"At present, however, I am going to Jerusalem bringing aid to the saints. For Macedonia and Achaia have been pleased to make some contribution for the poor among the saints at Jerusalem. They were pleased to do it, and indeed they owe it to them. For if the Gentiles have come to share in their spiritual blessings, they ought also to be of service to them in material blessings. When therefore I have completed this and have delivered to them what has been collected, I will leave for Spain by way of you. I know that when I come to you I will come in the fullness of the blessing of Christ."
Do you see it? The Special Assignment for Paul...
Jerusalem was not on the way to Spain by way of Rome!
Paul was in Eastern Asia, at best straight north of Jerusalem. But mostlikely west as well!
Paul was heading South East to Jerusalem...the exact opposite way of Rome!
But something had changed for Paul, God called Paul on a Special Assignment.
Paul surrendered His wants and desires to go to Rome to the Calling and Prompting of the Spirit.
This Special Assignment could be as short as a Day...week...month...or in Paul's case it took about 4 years to get to Rome. He never did get to Spain.
Are you willing to put your life on hold...and surrender to the Spirit?
Christ has the Right to call us to what ever and where ever He wants us...it is our arrogant Pride that makes us think our life is ours.
We forget that we have been bought by His Blood and we own Him our very lives!!!
Assignment #4
The Warfare Assignment
Romans 15:30-33
"I appeal to you, brothers, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to strive together with me in your prayers to God on my behalf, that I may be delivered from the unbelievers in Judea, and that my service for Jerusalem may be acceptable to the saints, so that by God's will I may come to you with joy and be refreshed in your company. May the God of peace be with you all. Amen."
We ARE in a War!!!!
Our enemy seeks to interrupt our assignments!!! To stop us from completing them.
Paul understands this assignment all to well, and he knows how to complete it!
We need each other! We need to pray for each other, that we would all accomplish our Assignments!
We also need to pray for unbelievers, that they would not hinder our assignments, but see our lives and hear the message we preach and turn to God and put their Faith in Jesus Christ!
Ephesians 6:10-20
The Whole Armor of God
"Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains, that I may declare it boldly, as I ought to speak."
Assignments:
1. The Big Assignment -- Exulting God in all we do!
2. The Personal Assignment -- Our Unique calling by God!
3. The Special Assignment -- Any other Assignment you are called to by God!
4. The Warfare Assignment -- Praying for Brothers and Sisters and well as unbelievers!
