The Sun

This Image is of the Planet Venus in front of the Sun. This Image was take from Earth. Venus is about the same size as Earth, but it is a bit smaller. That is what we must also look like compared to the Sun!
This Image is a Close-up of the Sun. The dark areas are cooler than the lighter areas, but honestly, we would not be able to tell that, unless we had some really smart people with some really sophisticated equipment! These are called Solar Jets...don't ask me why, that is just what they are called! But it looks cool, and God made it!
The Sun is 93 Million Miles away from Earth! And it's a good thing too, if it were any closer, we would be toast; and if it were any farther away we would be a big ice cube! It's 100 time the Diameter of Earth and on it's Surface is 11,000 degrees F. That flare on the lower left of the Sun, Earth could easily fit between it and the Sun. Right in that little arch! Light traveling from the Sun to Earth takes anywhere from 7-8 minutes until it hits your skin (feeling like we are getting used light? Me too!). If we could collect and save the GNP (Gross National Product) of the entire U.S. for 7 million years, then give all that money to one local power company; they could run the sun for 1 Second!!! Yup, that's it 1 Second!
Our Sun is actually one of the middle sized stars that are out there, not to big and not to small, just right! There are Stars that if placed where our sun is, they would encompass everything all the way out to and past Pluto!!!
Our Sun is also not the most brilliant of Stars, there are many that are 100 times brighter than the Sun!!!

Light travels at 186,000 miles per second! (I wish I could drive to work that fast!!!)
That's 11,000,600 miles per minute, 669,600,000 miles per hour, and....
5.88 Trillion Miles per Year!!!
That 5.88 Trillion miles is what Really smart people use to measure our Universe! I don't know about you but I can't even fathom how far that is!

The images above were taken from the Swedish Solar Institutes website, www.solarphysics.kva.se/

Thank You LORD Jesus for all that you have provided us with! The Sun at the right distance, and the fact that it continuously declares Your Glory!

In Christ,

David
