Be Thankful: He invites us to Live with Him forever
Be Thankful: He invites us to Live with Him forever
Psalm 23:6
"Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever."
Doesn't that last part of this verse just make you want to Shout for Joy!!!
David says, "I shall dwell"! Not, I think I will dwell, or I hope that I will dwell. But "I SHALL DWELL"!!!!
There is no doubt in Davids mind, this is not a question!
The word Dwell can also be translated as, shall return to dwell!
Meaning that this is our home it is where our citizenship is and we will return there!
Ephesians 3:20-21
"But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself."
Ephesians 2:18-21
"For through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father. So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord."
This citizenship in Heaven however is a restored citizenship for some...for others it is broken, they are no longer citizens.
Are you a citizen of Heaven? Would you like to be? Here is how...
All have broken their citizenship:
Romans 3:23
"for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,"
Romans 3:10
"as it is written: 'None is righteous, no, not one;'"
We earn eternal death through sin:
Romans 6:23a
"For the wages of sin is death,"
But God has provided for the debt we owe:
Romans 6:23b
"but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
Romans 3:24-26
"and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God's righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins. It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus."
Propitiation is a fancy word that means we couldn't pay the debt we owed because of our sin, so God paid it for us through Jesus Christ.
The payment for our sins on our behalf was only through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ:
Romans 5:8
"but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
Colossians 2:13-15
"And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross. He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him."
This free gift must be accepted:
Romans 10:9-13
"because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. For the Scripture says, 'Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.' For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him. For 'everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.'"
It is only through God's Grace and Faith in Jesus Christ:
Ephesians 2:8-9
"For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast."
Romans 5:1-2
"Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God."
And this Free Gift once accepted is ours Eternally...Nothing can take it away! This is because Jesus stands in our place for the Judgment, He has paid our price!
Romans 8:1
"There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus."
Romans 8:38-39
"For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord."
Do you know that your Cirizenship is in Heaven?
Don't wait to make this decision...it is the Largest and most life changing decision you can and will make!
And if you choose not to make a decision...you've already made the decision!
Don't wait...there may be no tomorrow!
Thank You Jesus that you call us brothers and sons of God with you! Thank you for paying the price that my sins have demanded! I give my life to you and trust in you that you are the Only way, the Only truth, and the Only life! Thank You Jesus!
In Christ,
David
