Peace with God Through Faith
"Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us."
NASB
Results of Justification
"Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand; and we exult in hope of the glory of God. And not only this, but we also exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope; and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us."

The Long Version:
Romans 5:1-5
Peace with God through Faith
1. Therefore, since we have been shown to be right before God by trust in God, we have peace with God because of our Lord/Master Jesus Christ.
2. Because of Jesus Christ we have been brought/lead by trust in God into His unmeritted/unearned favor/kindness in which we stand, and we rejoice/exult/boast in anticipation of the Praise/Honor/Glory of God.
3. More than that, we rejoice/exult/boast in our tribulations/sufferings/afflictions, knowing that tribulations/sufferings/afflictions produce/work out a patient enduring/waiting,
4. and patient enduring/waiting produces/works out character/tested approval, and character/tested approval produces/works out expectant waiting;
5. and expectant waiting does not put us to shame/disgrace, because God's love has been poured out/bestowed upon our hearts because of/on account of the Sacred/Holy Wind/Breath/Spirit who has been given to us.
My Comments:
1. Therefore...Paul is changing from his proof to his Point. He has shown us that we are Justified by God through Faith and now He is restaing it and moving on to what this means for us!
We are Justified by God through trust in Him, and that brings us into peace with Him through Jesus Christ!
(I would rather be at peace with God, than at war with Him!)
Being at peace with God can only happen if we adjust what we think to what God thinks. For our Flesh is contrary to that of the Spirit/God. (Paul gets to this in Chapter 8)
2. It is only because of Jesus Christ that we have been brought by our Faith in Him, into His Grace...which cannot be earned. And because we have faith in Christ, we stand in this Grace! And we Boast in anticipation of the coming Glory of God.
(Ref. below Exodus 33)
3. But more than boasting in the coming Glory, we now boast in our sufferings! (What, we boast in our sufferings?) Yes, because suffering works out endurance (to see us through the race),
4. and endurance works out proven Godly Character, and proven Godly Character works out Hope in God;
5. and Hope cannot disappoint...or disgrace us! Why? Because God has poured out His love upon us by and through His Holy Spirit who has been given to each individual believer.
Exodus 33:17-23
"And the LORD said to Moses, 'This very thing that you have spoken I will do, for you have found favor in my sight, and I know you by name.' Moses said, 'Please show me your glory.' And he said, 'I will make all my goodness pass before you and will proclaim before you my name 'The LORD.' And I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy. But,' he said, 'you cannot see my face, for man shall not see me and live.' And the LORD said, 'Behold, there is a place by me where you shall stand on the rock, and while my glory passes by I will put you in a cleft of the rock, and I will cover you with my hand until I have passed by. Then I will take away my hand, and you shall see my back, but my face shall not be seen.'"
Matthew 17:1-13
"And after six days Jesus took with him Peter and James, and John his brother, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. And he was transfigured before them, and his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became white as light. And behold, there appeared to them Moses and Elijah, talking with him. And Peter said to Jesus, 'Lord, it is good that we are here. If you wish, I will make three tents here, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah.' He was still speaking when, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, 'This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him.' When the disciples heard this, they fell on their faces and were terrified. But Jesus came and touched them, saying, 'Rise, and have no fear.' And when they lifted up their eyes, they saw no one but Jesus only. And as they were coming down the mountain, Jesus commanded them, 'Tell no one the vision, until the Son of Man is raised from the dead.' And the disciples asked him, 'Then why do the scribes say that first Elijah must come?' He answered, 'Elijah does come, and he will restore all things. But I tell you that Elijah has already come, and they did not recognize him, but did to him whatever they pleased. So also the Son of Man will certainly suffer at their hands.' Then the disciples understood that he was speaking to them of John the Baptist."
Here we see that the Glory of God is now the person of Jesus Christ. (Cool side note....Moses was there and was talking with Jesus! He finally could look upon the Glory of God!) The transfiguration of Jesus was a very special and significant moment. God came down to us, to our level and allowed humans to gaze upon His Glory in the form of Jesus Christ!

This does speak of the coming Glory, for we are not in our Glorified bodies. But not only will we be changed and Glorified at Christ 2nd coming, but He will remake the Earth as well. Paul gets to this more in Chapter 8.
Future Glory: Heaven on Earth! God has promised it!
Defining Glory:
Hebrew: Shakina -- Fall on your Face in Worship Glory!!!! What both Moses and The 3 Disciples experienced!
And Future Glory is that we will see it! Forever...Rev 21!!!
Greek: Doxa -- Something or Someone who is worthy of Praise and Renown...Christ
Philippians 2, Colassians 3:4, and Romans 8 --- we will share in this!
Hebrew: Kabad -- Weighty/Significant/of some worth
In Daniel...Bel-Shazer -- saw handwriting on the wall of his palace, it discribed Idols as Glory less....weightless!!!
Idols are empty...God is Full!!!
In Christ,
David
