Romans 5:15-17
ESV
"But the free gift is not like the trespass. For if many died through one man's trespass, much more have the grace of God and the free gift by the grace of that one man Jesus Christ abounded for many. And the free gift is not like the result of that one man's sin. For the judgment following one trespass brought condemnation, but the free gift following many trespasses brought justification. If, because of one man's trespass, death reigned through that one man, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ."
NASB
"But the free gift is not like the transgression. For if by the transgression of the one the many died, much more did the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abound to the many. The gift is not like that which came through the one who sinned; for on the one hand the judgment arose from one transgression resulting in condemnation, but on the other hand the free gift arose from many transgressions resulting in justification. For if by the transgression of the one, death reigned through the one, much more those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ."

The Long Version:
Romans 5:15-17
15. But the free grace gift/gift of grace (unmerritted favor) in not like/in the likeness of the trespass/false step/transgression/sin. For if many died because of Adam's trespass/false step/transgression/sin, much more have the unmerritted favor/unearned kindness of God and the free gift on account of the unmerritted favor/unearned kindness of Jesus Christ that abounded/was over and above the trespass for many.
16. And the free gift/present is not like/in the likeness of the result of Adam's sin/wrong doing/missing of the mark of perfection set by God. For the judgment following Adam's trespass/false step/transgression/sin brought condemnation/penalty/a judgment against, but the free grace gift/gift of grace following many trespasses/false steps/transgressions/sins brought justification/a sentence of acquittal/a showing to be righteous (in right standing with God).
17. If, because of Adam's trespass/false step/transgression/sin, death ruled on account of the one sin, much more those who receive/take the abundance/overabundance/excess of grace/unmerritted favor/unearned kindness and the free gift of righteousness/right standing with God that rules in life because of/on account of Jesus Christ.
My Comments:
15. The free gift of Grace that God offers through Jesus Christ (Eternal Life) is not like what came through Adam's Sin (Death). Many died because of Adam's sin, but many more have the opportunity to accept the free gift that God offers to us through Jesus Christ...this free gift of Eternal Life is over and above the sin.
Meaning that even though we do sin, God's grace, if we accept it through Jesus Christ, has the power to wipe out our sins!
16. In 15 Paul is making a distinction between Adam's sin, and Christ's Gift. Here in 16, He is saying that, what we get from these two are completely different.
The Judgment following Adam's sin...brought death.
And through Christ's gift even though we do sin, because of His Grace and the sacrifice that He gave on the Cross, we are shown to be in a right standing with God.
17. This verse is kind of a recap and summary of the previous two.
Because of Adam's sin, death ruled in the world. But those who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, receive His Grace (and there is more than enough to go around) and the Free Gift of Eternal Life, all because of Jesus Sacrificial Death upon the Cross, and His resurection from the Dead.
In Christ,
David
