Romans 5:6-11

Romans 5:6-11
ESV
"For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person--though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die-- but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation."

NASB
"For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will hardly die for a righteous man; though perhaps for the good man someone would dare even to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. And not only this, but we also exult in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation."

Stephanus 1550 New Testament

The Long Version:
Romans 5:6-11

6. For while we were still weak/helpless, at the right time the Annointed One/Messiah died for the ungodly.

7. For someone will scarcely/hardly die for a righteous person -- though perhaps for a good person someone would have courage even to die --

8. but God establishes His love for us in that while we were still sinners/sinful/wrong doers, The Annointed One/Messiah died for us.

9. Since, therefore, we have now been justified/made right with God by His/Christ's blood, much more shall we be saved/kept safe by Him from the Wrath of God.

10. For if while we were enemies of/Haters of/Hostile toward God we were reconciled to God/made friends of God by the death of His Son, much more, now that we are friends of God, shall we be saved by His life.

11. More than that, we also rejoice/exult/boast in God through our Lord/Master Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the status of Friends of God.

My Comments:

6. Because of the fall, by Adam -- coming in the next portion of scripture -- we are helpless, we cannot seek God. So at the right/perfect time, Jesus died for all the ungodly, that they might be able to come into a right relationship with God.

7. I don't completely understand this verse, but....I think that it is saying, No one will die for a person who doesn't need a sacrifice, but some might have enough courage to die for someone who thinks they are good.
Meaning...If a person thinks that they don't need Christ's Sacrifice, and they don't accept it, it doesn't transfer over to them...However, if a person realizes that they need the Sacrifice that Jesus provided on the cross, and they accept it as payment for their sins, then they are made right with God.

8. God makes firm His love for us and shows us just how much He does love us by sending Jesus to die in our place...a substitutionary sacrife for us...while we were still sinners...His enemies!

Would you do that for your enemies?

9. Now that because of Christ's sacrifice we are in a right relationship with God, even more than that we are kept safe from His wrath!

10. God wrath is perfectly just, because we were His enemy in our sins...we hated God! But have been made His friends through the death of His Son, Jesus Christ. And because we are now friends of God through Christ, we are saved by Christ's Life.

11. But even more than all of this, we boast in God through Christ Jesus, because we are now Friends of God.

In Christ,

David
