Romans 6:1-4
ESV
Dead to Sin, Alive to God
"What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it? Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life."
NASB
Believers Are Dead to Sin, Alive to God
"What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin so that grace may increase? May it never be! How shall we who died to sin still live in it? Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death? Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life."

He told me you're nuts...
Yeah, I tend to attract squirrels!
I'm just crazy about Jesus and seeing people come to know Who He is and What He has done for them.
It is my passion and mission in life to help people enter into a relationship with Jesus Christ, The King of Kings, The Alpha and Omega, The Lord of Lords, The Almighty Creator of all that is!
If the thinks me nuts??? That is o.k. by me!!!
In Christ,
David
The Long Version:
Romans 6:1-4
Dead to Sin, Alive to God
1. What then shall we say? Are we to continue in sin/failure so that grace/unmerritted favor/unearned kindness my abound/increase?
2. By No means!/May it Never be! How can we who died to sin/failure still live in sin/failure?
3. Do you not know/Are you ingnorant of the fact that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death?
4. We were buried/buried with him through/on account of baptism into death, in order that just as Christ was raised/woken/raised up from the dead through/on account of the Glory/Praise/Honor of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.
My Comments:
1. So, because we have Peace with God through Christ (from Chapter 5), should we sin more and more so that God can give us more and more grace???
2. Never...how can a person who has died to sin, still go on living in sin?
If a person dies...they no longer live in this world! They cannot partake in anything of this world...likewise, if through Christ we have died to sin...how can we still live a life of sinfulness???
3. Paul asks the same question from a different angle...You were baptized into Christ right? Do you not know or understand that that is symbolic of you joining with Christ in His death?
4. We were buried with Christ through baptism so that in the same way we could rise with Him in His Resurection from the Dead and live in a new life!
In Christ,
David
This is "True Freedom: Found in Christ" (vs. 1-14)
1. Freedom from sin through death to sin.
What does that mean?
Notice: All the verbs are in the Past Tense!!!
Notice: The union -- into/with/so we to/untied with all in the past tense!
Also -- Baptiso as used in these verses means: to dip or Emerse so that something is changed
Rather than Bapto: To dip or Emerse
We are easily entangled in Sin!
Jesus Came to us to set us all free from sin!
The answer to Freedom from sin is in vs. 7!

David

He told me you're nuts...
At the end it says...
"If the thinks me nuts??? That is o.k. by me!!!
it should read...
"If the World thinks me nuts??? That is o.k. by me!!!
As Paul said in Galations 1:10
"For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ."
In Christ,
David
I just stumbled on your blog today- I've been wanting to study Greek for a while and haven't been able to because of other commitments- it's so nice to see just the plain truth set out to be looked over and meditated on. Keep posting- I'll keep reading.
