Romans 10:1-4
Romans 10:1-4
ESV
"Brothers, my heart's desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved. I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. For, being ignorant of the righteousness that comes from God, and seeking to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes."
NASB
The Word of Faith Brings Salvation
"Brethren, my heart's desire and my prayer to God for them is for their salvation. For I testify about them that they have a zeal for God, but not in accordance with knowledge. For not knowing about God's righteousness and seeking to establish their own, they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes."

The Long Version:
Romans 10:1-4
The Word of Faith Brings Salvation
1. Brothers, my heart's desire/good pleasure/opinion/want and prayer to God for them (the Jews)is that they may be saved/delivered.
2. I bear witness/testify that they have a zeal/jealousy for God, but not according to knowledge/recognition/to know exactly.
3. For, being ignorant/not knowing/not recognizing/not perceiving of the righteousness/correctness/innocense/justness that comes from God, and seeking to establish their own, they did not submit/subject/obey/place themselves under (to) God's righteousness/correctness/innocese/justness.
4. For Christ is the end of the law for the riteousness/correctness/innocense/ justness to everyone who believes/trusts/has confidence (in Christ).
My Comments:
1. Paul wants his fellow Jews to be saved!! Just as God wants all peoples to be saved, so also does Paul, however Paul was sent to the Gentiles, but it is still his desire to see his people come to the knowledge of Jesus Christ.
What does it mean to be saved? Saved from what and to what???
1. Saved from Sin. When God says don't, He is saying don't hurt yourself! Take a look at the 10 Commandment...God is deffinatly telling us to not hurt ourselves! Sin is also what separates us from Him, and that hurts also!
2. Saved from Hell. An Eternity away from the presence of God (which is Eternal suffering).
3. Saved to...Christ Jesus!
Eternity in Heaven with Him, Reigning as Co-heirs forever!
2. They (the Jews) have a zeal for God, however that zeal is misplaced. The zeal is not in Christ, but in obedience to the law, but not only the law, also other rules that they made up, to help prevent them from breaking the law.
3. They didn't subject themselves to God's authority, but tried to get to God on their own standards.
4. But Christ, put an end to the law, by upholding it completely, and anyone who believes in Him (trusts Him and Him alone to be LORD and Savior of their lives) will be saved.
In Christ,
David
