Romans 8:9-17

"You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him. But if Christ is in you, although the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness. If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.
Heirs with Christ
So then, brothers, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, 'Abba! Father!' The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs--heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him."

The Long Version:
Romans 8:9-17
Heirs with Christ
9. You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells/inhabits (in) you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ/The Messiah/Annointed One does not belong/exist to him.
10. But if Christ is in you, although the body is dead because of sin/failure, the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
11. If the Spirit of Him who raised/wakened Jesus from the dead dwells/inhabits (in) you, He who raised/wakened Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal/subject to death bodies through His Spirit who dwells/inhabits (in) you.
12. So then, brothers, we are debtors/under obligation, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh.
13. For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.
14. For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.
15. For you did not receive the Spirit of slavery to fall back into fear/panic/terror, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry/scream, 'Abba! Father!'
16. The Spirit himself bears witness/testifies with our Spirit that we are children of God,
17. and if children, then heirs--heirs of God and fellow heirs/co-inheritors with Christ, if indeed we suffer/mourn with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him.
My Comments:
9. If we are truly Christians, we do not live in the flesh, the Spirit of God lives within us and controls us. If we do not have the Spirit of God, we have no buisness with Christ, we do not belong to Him.
10. But if Christ is in us our body is dead to sin, but alive through the power and strength of the Holy Spirit.
11. And if we have God's Spirit living within us, just as He raised Christ from the dead He will raise our bodies from the dead through that same Spirit!!!
12. Because of this Awesome and Wonderful Promise, we are debtors to God (God does not owe anything to anyone...EVER) and God alone, we are no longer debtors enslaved to serve the flesh.
13. If we lived as debtors enslaved to serve the flesh we will die, but if we live and serve the Spirit of God and in so doing through His power put to death the deed of the flesh...we have life in Him!!!
14. If we are under the control of the Spirit of God, we are considered by God to be His sons!!
15. He didn't give us a Spirit of slavery...to sin which leads us into fear...but a Spirit of adoption!! God has adopted us into His family!!! And given us a Spirit that screams out to Him, Father, Daddy!!!
16. And the Spirit that God has given us also testifies to us and with us that we are now God's children!!!
17. Because we are now God's children we are also heirs and co-inheritors with Jesus Christ. We will co-inherit with Christ ALL that is the Fathers!!! If indeed we suffer with Him (Christ).
2 Corinthians 4:17 "For this slight momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison."
We will be pursecuted and rejected by men. 1 Peter 2:4 "As you come to him, a living stone rejected by men but in the sight of God chosen and precious," If we are heirs with Him, we will go throught the same things he went through by men, but will also like Him, been seen by God as Chosen and Precious!!!!
And be glorified with Him!!!!
