God's Everlasting Love
"What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? Who shall bring any charge against God's elect? It is God who justifies. Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died--more than that, who was raised--who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? As it is written, 'For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.' No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord."
NASB
"What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things? Who will bring a charge against God's elect? God is the one who justifies; who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us. Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? Just as it is written, 'FOR YOUR SAKE WE ARE BEING PUT TO DEATH ALL DAY LONG; WE WERE CONSIDERED AS SHEEP TO BE SLAUGHTERED.' But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

The Long Version:
Romans 8:31-39
God's Everlasting Love
31. What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
32. He who did not spare his own Son but gave/handed over/delivered over Him up for us all, how will he not also with Him graciously/to show favor/give freely give us all things?
33. Who shall bring any charge/call in a debt or demand/bring to account against God's elect/select? It is God who justifies/shows to be righteous.
34. Who is to condemn/give judgment against? Christ Jesus is the one who died--more than that, who was raised--who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding/confering with/entreating for us.
35. Who shall separate/divide us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation/affliction, or distress/difficulty, or persecution, or famine/hunger, or nakedness, or danger, or sword/fighting?
36. As it is written, 'For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded/considered as sheep to be slaughtered.'
37. No, in all things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.
38. For I am sure/convinced/persuaded/have confidence that neither deat nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers,
39. nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate/divide us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
My Comments:
31. So, what do we say about all that has been said so far?
If God is for us, who can be against us?
No one can be against us, no one can beat God!!!!
God has our backs!!!!
32. God gave up His only Son Jesus Christ, and through the Resurection gave Him everything...and will also give those who are IN Christ Jesus everything out of His Goodness!
33. No one can accuse God's elect of anything! God is the one who is the Judge and and Jury. Through Jesus Christ, He has pardoned us! No one can say that God jugded wrongly...God is perfect!!!!
34. Again, who can condemn God's elect? No one -- because Christ Jesus is the one who died and rose again and is sitting at the right hand of God in power and is pleading our case to God. Saying, but this one is mine, He believes in me, She is righteous because she has believed in me!!!
35. Who shall separate God's elect from this love? Absolutely no one and nothing!!!
36. This is a prophesy fullfilled!
We are considered to be weak and helpless and are to be slaughtered (this part is coming!!)
37. But, and that is a BIG BUT!!!
We are more than Conquerors in Jesus Christ! We have not only won the battle but the War, and it wasn't even close!!!!
38. Nothing, not death or life, angels or rulers of the earth, nothing now or in the future, nor powers (mostlikely refering to demons, i.e. Satan),
39. nor height or depth, or anything that has been created (that would be everything!!), Nothing can separate us (God's elect) from His love through Christ Jesus our Lord.
Jesus must be your Lord!!!
In Christ,
David
Romans 8:28-39
Hebrews 1:14
"Are they not all ministering spirits sent out to serve for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation?"
Angels can't be seen, but they are there!!!
A lot of the promises in Romans are Behind the Scenes (so to speak). They are promises that we can't see!
At the beginning of the "War on Terror", a reporter asked Donald Rumsfeldt..."I'd like to ask you about the 'Apparent failure to follow the War Plan?'"
The reply from Mr. Rumsfeldt: "I don't believe you have the War Plan!"
Many times we ask God, "Why?"
His response: "I know, trust me. I have the plan for your life -- You need to trust me."
vs. 29 "For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers."
God has it all planned out!
James says, "Count it all Joy..."
All...count it ALL joy!!! the pain and suffering as well as the good!
Strength for the Journey
1. The assurance of our Perfection (Vs. 28-30)
For those who believe in Jesus...someday it will happen!
God will finish what He has started: " And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ." Philippians 1:6
A) God's Sovergeign Power
B) God's Sovergeing Decrees
1. Called
2. Foreknew
3. Predestined
4. Justified
5. Glorified
They are all in the past tense and they are all found from vs. 28-30! This speaks to the certanty of them! It is the Prophetic Past Tense.
Vs. 27 Not everything will turn out ok.
Not everything that happens to us is good.
But God uses everything to conform us to His Son! (vs. 29)
2. The Assurance of His Provision (Vs. 31-32)
He who did not spare His Own Son -- will He not provide after giving us even His Son?
Vs. 32 -- this "All things" is everything to conform us to the image of His Son....it doesn't mean a house and nice cars and vacations and spouses! It is everything that is necessary for Maturity in Christ!
He gives us Post Cards of Provision: Peter: Fish with the coin in its mouth to pay for taxes...God will provide!
3. The Assurance of our Pardon (Vs. 33-34)
Who can bring a charge against Gods elect, His beloved -- the Apple of His eye?
Gods affection and love are set upon us!
Vs. 34 Who will condem them? Jesus is the one who died -- was raised -- and intercedes for us.
Hebrews 7
Our Pardon is Secure!!! Jesus Sacrifice covers us!
All you have to say is: "Father" and you have His attention!!!
It is kind of like Parents taking their children to a large populated park. They may be talking to each other on the bench, but the husband and wife are more concerend and concentrating more on watching their kid, than each other. God's full attention is on us, and watching over us!
4. The Assurance of His Passion for us (Vs. 35-39)
Love is to weak a word here!!! It's His Passion!! We are His Beloved!!!
When things don't work out, what will separate us? NOTHING!!!
We conquer through because we are not separated from Christ's Love!
Paul lived this!
Check out 2 Corinthians 11
And yet, NOTHING could separate Him from the Love of Christ!
In Christ,
David
