Romans 10:14-17

Romans 10:14-17
ESV
"But how are they to call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, 'How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!' But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, 'Lord, who has believed what he has heard from us?' So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ."

NASB
"How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, 'HOW BEAUTIFUL ARE THE FEET OF THOSE WHO BRING GOOD NEWS OF GOOD THINGS!' However, they did not all heed the good news; for Isaiah says, 'LORD, WHO HAS BELIEVED OUR REPORT?' So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ."

The Long Version:
Romans 10:14-17

14. But how are they to call on Him (Christ Jesus) in whom they have not believed/trusted/had confidence (in Christ Jesus)? And how are they to believe/trust/have confidence (in Christ Jesus) in Him (Christ Jesus) of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching/proclaiming?

15. And how are they to preach/proclaim unless they are sent? As it is written, 'How beautiful/seasonable/timely are the feet of those who preach/proclaim the Good News!'

16. But they have not all obeyed/listened to/attended to the Gospel/Good News. For Isaiah says, 'Lord/Master/Owner, who has believed/trusted/had confidence in what he has heard from us?'

17. So faith/trust/confidence (in Christ Jesus) comes from hearing, and hearing through the Word of Christ/the Annointed One/Messiah.

My Comments:

Paul asks a series of questions. These make up the basic outline of Evangelism and why it is Necessary!!!

14. How are they to call on Him (IN WHOM): Christ is the great preacher! The message is HIS GOSPEL, HIS GOOD NEWS!!
It is a privilage and an honor to carry that message as His ambassadors to this fallen world!!!
2 Corinthians 5:20
"Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God."

People can't believe in Christ Jesus if they have never heard of Him!
And people can't hear of Christ, if no one is Preaching His message (that He commanded us to preach!!!)

Acts 1:8 "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."
And Matthew 28:18-20
"And Jesus came and said to them, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.'"

15. And no one can preach to the peoples of the world unless they are sent!
That is why the Scripture says, "How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the Gospel!!!
Even the feet! of the preacher are beautiful!!!

16. But even though the preachers have been sent, and are preaching to the people, not all the people will actually hear/listen to the message! Not all will obey the message!
Isaiah declared, "Lord, who has believed in what he has heard from us?" Isaiah didn't get much of a response when he was pointing ahead to the Messiah, preaching a message of "Repent!" And the response today is the same.

17. But the conclusion Paul brings us to is:
Faith in Christ Jesus come from hearing His Word! (from the Bible being preached) Jesus manifests Himself and reveals Himself through His Gospel being preached.

One can only come to faith in Christ Jesus, if God has:
1. Chosen that person from before the foundations of the world.
2. They have the Gospel of Jesus Christ preached to them.

Here we see both Predestination and Free will work together!
It is mind blowing...and our finite minds cannot understand this concept.
How can I have free will if my choice has already been made?
But,
1. God chooses us from before the foundations of the world.
2. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is preached to us.
3. We listen, accept, and obey that Gospel...through an act of free will.

Beloved, if you are reading this...don't wait to make Jesus Christ you LORD and Savior! This might just be your last chance!
Repent of your sins: Call them as God sees them, agree with Him that they are wrong, turn from them and run into His open arms and Loving embrace!
Place your complete Faith, Trust in Jesus as the Savior of your soul.
Saved, from Eternal death and torment in hell and,
Saved, from the consiquences of your sin and,
Saved to Eternal life with God in Heaven!

Don't put it off, life is to short, you don't know what will happen.
Jesus Christ is our only hope for a right relationship with God!
Turn the Ownership of your life over to Him for His is Good!

If you have anymore questions about this, I will be more than happy to answer you. Either shoot me an email, or leave a comment here!

In Christ,
