Do Not Pass Judgment on One Another
"As for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not to quarrel over opinions. One person believes he may eat anything, while the weak person eats only vegetables. Let not the one who eats despise the one who abstains, and let not the one who abstains pass judgment on the one who eats, for God has welcomed him. Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another? It is before his own master that he stands or falls. And he will be upheld, for the Lord is able to make him stand. One person esteems one day as better than another, while another esteems all days alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. The one who observes the day, observes it in honor of the Lord. The one who eats, eats in honor of the Lord, since he gives thanks to God, while the one who abstains, abstains in honor of the Lord and gives thanks to God. For none of us lives to himself, and none of us dies to himself. If we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord's. For to this end Christ died and lived again, that he might be Lord both of the dead and of the living. Why do you pass judgment on your brother? Or you, why do you despise your brother? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God; for it is written, 'As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.' So then each of us will give an account of himself to God."
NASB
Principles of Conscience
"Now accept the one who is weak in faith, but not for the purpose of passing judgment on his opinions. One person has faith that he may eat all things, but he who is weak eats vegetables only. The one who eats is not to regard with contempt the one who does not eat, and the one who does not eat is not to judge the one who eats, for God has accepted him. Who are you to judge the servant of another? To his own master he stands or falls; and he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand. One person regards one day above another, another regards every day alike. Each person must be fully convinced in his own mind. He who observes the day, observes it for the Lord, and he who eats, does so for the Lord, for he gives thanks to God; and he who eats not, for the Lord he does not eat, and gives thanks to God. For not one of us lives for himself, and not one dies for himself; for if we live, we live for the Lord, or if we die, we die for the Lord; therefore whether we live or die, we are the Lord's. For to this end Christ died and lived again, that He might be Lord both of the dead and of the living. But you, why do you judge your brother? Or you again, why do you regard your brother with contempt? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God. For it is written, 'AS I LIVE, SAYS THE LORD, EVERY KNEE SHALL BOW TO ME, AND EVERY TONGUE SHALL GIVE PRAISE TO GOD.' So then each one of us will give an account of himself to God."

The Long Version
Romans 14:1-12
Do Not Pass Judgment on On Another
1. As for the one who is weak/feeble in faith/confidence, welcome/take in addition him, but not to quarrel/judge over opinions/reasoning.
2. One person believes/has faith/confidence he may eat anything/all, while the weak/feeble person eats only vegetables.
3. Let not the one who eats despise/treat with contempt the one who abstains/does not eat, and let not the one who abstains/does not eat pass judgment on the one who eats, for God has welcomed/take in addition him.
4. Who are you to pass judgment on the servant/house servant of another? It is before his own master/lord that he stands or falls. And he will be upheld/stand, for the Lord/Master/Owner is able/powerful to make him stand.
5. One person esteems/judges one day as better than another, while another esteems/judges all days alike. Each one should be fully/to bring to full measure/completely convinced/persuaded/confident in his own mind/understanding/reason.
6. The one who observes/to have understanding/think the day, observes/to have understanding/think it in honor of the Lord/Master/Owner. The on who eats, eats in honor of the Lord/Master/Owner, since he gives thanks/to be thankful to God, while the one who abstains/does not eat, abstains/does not eat in honor of the Lord/Master/Owner and gives thanks/to be thankful to God.
7.For none of us lives to himself, and none of us dies to himself.
8. If we live, we live to the Lord/Master/Owner, and if we die, we die to the Lord/Master/Owner. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord's/Master/Owner.
9. For to this end Christ/Annointed One/Messiah died and lived again, that he might be Lord/Master/Owner both of the dead and of the living.
10. Why do you pass judgment on your brother? Or you, why do you despise/treat with contempt your brother? For we will all stand/appear before the judgment seat of God;
11. for it is written, 'As I live, says the Lord/Master/Owner, every/all knee shall bow/bend to me, and every/all tongue shall confess/agree/speak the same to God.'
12. So then each of us will give an account/word/statement/speech of himself to God.
My Comments:
1. If Christ is living within us we are all brothers and sisters, He is our Lord and we should be welcoming to one another. And we should not bicker with each other.
2.-3. Paul moves into what we are not to bicker with each other about. It is very clear from the context and the nature of the things that he is talking about, Paul is saying to not bicker over the small things...the things that have no bearing on Salvation.
We know that Paul's response would be different in the case that the bickering would be over matters of Salvation because of passages like:
(Galations 1:6-7; 3:1-5; Philippians 3:2,18-19)
Galations 1:6-7
No Other Gospel
"I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel-- not that there is another one, but there are some who trouble you and want to distort the gospel of Christ."
Galations 3:1-5
By Faith, or by Works of the Law?
"O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? It was before your eyes that Jesus Christ was publicly portrayed as crucified. Let me ask you only this: Did you receive the Spirit by works of the law or by hearing with faith? Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh? Did you suffer so many things in vain--if indeed it was in vain? Does he who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you do so by works of the law, or by hearing with faith--"
Philippians 3:2
"Look out for the dogs, look out for the evildoers, look out for those who mutilate the flesh."
Philippians 3:18-19
"For many, of whom I have often told you and now tell you even with tears, walk as enemies of the cross of Christ. Their end is destruction, their god is their belly, and they glory in their shame, with minds set on earthly things."
Paul even says of Himself in Galations 1:8
"But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned!"
We are to fight for the Gospel, the only message that can bring Salvation, but we must not bicker with one another on our Christian liberties, the freedom's that we have or have not yet found in Christ!
4. Who are we to judge a brother? That is Christ's job! Especially on the minor issues!
We are to contend for the faith (Philippians 1:27 "Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in one spirit, contending as one man for the faith of the gospel." and Jude 1:3 "Dear friends, although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt I had to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to the saints.") and always be prepared to give an answer for the hope that we have. (1 Peter 3:15 "But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,")
5. Paul is making reference to the many festivals, not specifically to the Sabbath. But the Idea here is the same as in verses 2-3
6. Here Paul adds another aspect. Each believer is doing what he believes in honoring to God and is giving thanks to Christ! As long as they are not committing sin, and they honor God, we have freedoms that Christ has given us to enjoy! Or restrictions by convictions of the Holy Spirit so that we abstain.
7.-8. The moral here is that we are the Lords! He bought us with a price! That price was His Blood on the Cross and His death, everything we do, must be to His Glory!
9. That is why Christ died, so that He would be Lord of ALL!!!!
10. So again, we must watch ourselves to be judging of our fellow brothers and sisters, whether it is in their freedoms or the restrictions that they have through convictions of the Holy Spirit.
11. Amen!!! There will be a day when every single person must bow their knee to Christ!
Also, that same day, there will be a representative of every nation/people group who are a part of the Family of God!!!!!
12. Everyone, without exception must give an account of their life, thoughts, words, and actions to God!
The greatest thought is that if you have Christ, He will stand in our place and say to the Father, this one is mine, He/She is washed clean by my Sacrifice!!!!
O, to hear those words!
In Christ,
David
People above Preferences
"In Essentials, Unity.
In Non-Essentials, Charity.
In all things, Jesus Christ."
John Chrysostom
This passage is about Unity and Diversity!
The church in Rome is divided, Jews and Gentiles together but arguing over Non-Essentials.
Jews: Grace of God with Rituals (but not quite like the Judizers)
They still had to eat Kosher food and celebrate their Holy Days and Festivals
Gentiles: Flat out Grace!
1. Accept one another and do not judge each other in "non-essential" matters. (1-12)
Stop dividing -- Don't Judge
A) God excepts both groups (4)
B) They are Gods servants, they belong to God (4)
C) We will all be judged by God (10-12)
Were the Bible Speaks, I will Speak!
Were the Bible is Silent, I will remain Silent!
2. Understand that freedom and liberty are wonderful, but love is even greater. (13-18)
Don't let your freedom be an obsticle for the weak (14)
Even though you are right, love and unity are better.
The Gospel and Unity are worth more than causing another to stumble!
We are only to advance the kingdom!
5 Things that happen when we don't do this:
1. The Devil is pleased
2. God is Greived
3. Another Stumbles
4. Pride sets in
5. The Kingdom is not Advanced
3. Always err on the side of peace and encouraging each other (19-23)
How do we carry non-essentials in our heart? (22) In needs to be in Peace between us and God!
Don't do anything that goes against your conscience (23) That would be a sin.

In Christ,
David
