Do Not Cause Another to Stumble
"Therefore let us not pass judgment on one another any longer, but rather decide never to put a stumbling block or hindrance in the way of a brother. I know and am persuaded in the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean in itself, but it is unclean for anyone who thinks it unclean. For if your brother is grieved by what you eat, you are no longer walking in love. By what you eat, do not destroy the one for whom Christ died. So do not let what you regard as good be spoken of as evil. For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. Whoever thus serves Christ is acceptable to God and approved by men. So then let us pursue what makes for peace and for mutual upbuilding. Do not, for the sake of food, destroy the work of God. Everything is indeed clean, but it is wrong for anyone to make another stumble by what he eats. It is good not to eat meat or drink wine or do anything that causes your brother to stumble. The faith that you have, keep between yourself and God. Blessed is the one who has no reason to pass judgment on himself for what he approves. But whoever has doubts is condemned if he eats, because the eating is not from faith. For whatever does not proceed from faith is sin.
NASB
"Therefore let us not judge one another anymore, but rather determine this--not to put an obstacle or a stumbling block in a brother's way. I know and am convinced in the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean in itself; but to him who thinks anything to be unclean, to him it is unclean. For if because of food your brother is hurt, you are no longer walking according to love. Do not destroy with your food him for whom Christ died. Therefore do not let what is for you a good thing be spoken of as evil; for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. For he who in this way serves Christ is acceptable to God and approved by men. So then we pursue the things which make for peace and the building up of one another. Do not tear down the work of God for the sake of food. All things indeed are clean, but they are evil for the man who eats and gives offense. It is good not to eat meat or to drink wine, or to do anything by which your brother stumbles. The faith which you have, have as your own conviction before God. Happy is he who does not condemn himself in what he approves. But he who doubts is condemned if he eats, because his eating is not from faith; and whatever is not from faith is sin."

The Long Version:
Romans 14:13-23
Do not cause Another to Stumble
13. Therefore, let us not pass judgment on one another any longer, but rather decide never to put a stumbling block or hindrance in the way of a brother.
14. I know I am persuaded/confident in the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean in itself, but is unclean for anyone who thinks/considers it unclean.
15. For if your brother is grieved/distressed by what you eat, you are no longer walking in love/goodwill. By what you eat, do not destroy/destroy utterly the one for whom Christ died.
16. So do not let what you regard as good be spoken of as evil/slandered/profanely.
17. For the kingdom/royal power/sovereignty of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness/shown to be righteous/innocent/correct and peace and joy/delight/be glad/rejoiceing in the Holy Spirit.
18. Whoever thus serves Christ is acceptable/well-pleasing to God and approved/tested by men/mankind.
19. So then let us pursue what makes for peace and for mutual/of one another upbuilding.
20.Do not for the sake/on account of food, destroy/destroy utterly the work/deeds of God. Everything is indeed clean, but it is wrong/evil/bad for anyone to make another stumble by what he eats.
21. It is good not to eat meat/flesh or drink wine or do anything that causes your brother to stumble.
22. The faith/confidence you have/hold, keep/hold between/in sight of/before yourself and God. Blessed/Happy is the one who has no reason to pass judgment on himself for what he approves.
23. But whoever has doubts/distinguishes is condemned/give judgment against if he eats, because the eating is not from faith/confidence. For whatever does not proceed from faith/confidence is sin/missing the mark/failure/doing of wrong.
My Comments:
13. This is one of two key points in this chapter.
Whatever freedoms we may have in Christ, we must always avoid causing another to stumble.
14. Paul, groing up a Jew and being a Pharisee, knew all to well about things that were considered ceremonily unclean. However, now that Paul is a follower of Christ, Paul understands that nothing that God has created i.e. food and drink is unclean...because God created it.
But, Paul does admit that for those who have not found this freedom in Christ, they still consider it unclean, therefore for their sake it is unclean.
15. So to assist them in their growth in Christ, we should avoid our freedoms for their sake. That is the loving thing to do.
16. However, we must not let the weaker brother slander our freedoms. But this is accomplished by what we will talk about in vs. 22.
17. God's kingdom is not a matter of food and drink. It is about the blessings of grace! Our freedom rests in the blessings of grace, not in food and drink, therefore they can never be taken away!
18. We can be a blessing and pleasing to God when we serve His body in this way.
Also, it is not our goal to please man, but God. However, by living in such a way we can have an impact on their lives through fellowship and evangelism...they will feel more comfortable letting us talk to them about Christ, because of how we live and treat them!
19. Pursueing peace and building each other up is concerning ourselves for the wellbeing of our brothers and sisters in Christ.
20.-21. Restatement of above to lead into this final section.
22. We are to enjoy our freedoms, but we are to enjoy them privately. This will prevent the weaker brother from slander. It is also a way to partake in our freedoms, while keeping our faith to ourselves.
23. Many people don't like this verse...it very clearly states that anything done without faith is sin.
Without faith, anything that we do...is sin!
Therefore we must have confidence in Christ and do all we can through His power.
In Christ,
David
