"I commend to you our sister Phoebe, a servant of the church at Cenchreae, that you may welcome her in the Lord in a way worthy of the saints, and help her in whatever she may need from you, for she has been a patron of many and of myself as well. Greet Prisca and Aquila, my fellow workers in Christ Jesus, who risked their necks for my life, to whom not only I give thanks but all the churches of the Gentiles give thanks as well. Greet also the church in their house. Greet my beloved Epaenetus, who was the first convert to Christ in Asia. Greet Mary, who has worked hard for you. The Long Version
Romans 16:1-8
Personal Greetings/Greetings and Love Expressed
1. I commend to you our sister Phoebe, a servant/minister of the church/assembly/congregation at Cenchreae,
2. that you may welcome/receive her in the Lord in a way worthy of the saints/holy, and help her in whatever she may need from you, for she has been a patron/helper/protectress of many and of myself as well.
3. Greet/Welcome Prisca and Aquila, my fellow workers in Christ Jesus,
4. who risked their necks for my life/breath/soul, to whom not only I give thanks but all the churches/assembly/congergations of the Gentiles/races/nations other than Israel give thanks as well.
5. Greet/Welcome also the church/assembly/congregation in their house/dwelling. Greet/Welcome my beloved Epaenetus, who was the first convert/firstfruit to Christ in Asia.
6. Greet/Welcome Mary, who has worked/laborious toil hard for you.
7. Greet/Welcome Andronicus and Junia, my kinsmen/relative and my fellow prisoners. They are well known/outstanding/notable to the apostles, and they were in Christ before me.

My Comments:
Romans 16:1-8
1.-8. Paul closes this letter to the Church in Rome with personal greetings.
It is amazing the number of people that he greats by name, indicating the closeness and wormth of the early church.
Interesting Note:
Possible dateing for the letter to Rome is between Late 54 A.D. and Early 57 A.D. at the lastest it was written in 58 A.D.
The Roman Catholic Church Claims that Peter went to Rome in 42 A.D. and became the Bishop of Rome (Pope). And he remained in Rome until 67 A.D. when he was martyred.
It seems kind of odd to me that Paul (who personaly knew Peter) would not mention Peter in this letter written 15 years after Peter was supposed to be in Rome. Yet Paul mentions 26 other people by name.
To me if Peter was deffinately the Human Head of the Church, Paul would have acknowledged him.
